| | Built in the 1950s on the foundation of hard work for which Milwaukee had become known, the building at 2040 West Wisconsin Ave. was completely restored and updated in 2006 to become 2040 Lofts. A second building housing the new Signature Suites was added in 2009, paying homage to the classic American architecture of the original structure. Eight cast aluminum sculptures by the late Milwaukee-native sculptor Dick Wiken form the conceptual anchor of 2040 Lofts style.
